SOCAN says ringtone money isn’t available anymore

OTTAWA — The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) said in a recent Federal Court filing that there is "no remedy" should the court find that it owes wireless carriers $12 million for tariffs they paid for ringtones used between 2006 and 2012.
