Commercial radio stations will face a collective royalty increase of $13 million annually following a Copyright Board of Canada decision Friday that will permit new rights holder groups to collect royalty payments. Radio stations pay royalties on four copyrights and two remuneration rights, and collective societies representing rights holders had filed five separate tariffs on those rights with the Copyright Board. The board issued a decision Friday that addressed all of the tariffs at the same time.
