Rogers elects new board member

Rogers Communications Inc. yesterday announced the election of Isabelle Marcoux to its board of directors. Marcoux is vice-chair and VP of corporate development of Transcontinental Inc. She has a bachelor of economics and a degree in law from McGill University. Last year she was hungered as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.    "We are pleased to welcome Isabelle to the Rogers’ Board of Directors," said Alan Horn, Rogers’ board chair. "Isabelle’s background and extensive experience as an executive and as a director will be an asset to our Board."

Details of first responder forum unveiled

Vendors, service providers and public safety organizations are getting together to discuss interoperable issues. CATAAlliance, together with the Canadian Police Research Centre (CPRC) have launched a national series of Vendor Outreach Forum (VOF) consultations with the first one taking place in Toronto on June 23 and 24. The Forum is designed to help shape the future direction of industry R&D efforts and help lay the foundation for a technology roadmap for first responders.

Tranzeo hits top production levels

Tranzeo Wireless Technologies Inc., a Pitt Meadows BC-based maker of wireless broadband and WiMAX communication systems, is now operating at full product capacity for its high-performance WiMAX radio equipment. The company produces WiMAX equipment in the 3.5GHz and 5.8GHz bands that operate in both indoor and outdoor environments. Tranzeo has also ensured that its gear is interoperable with equipment made by other WiMAX base station manufacturers. Tranzeo’s equipment is based on the 802.16d (802.16-2004) fixed WiMAX standard.

McAfee gets new CFO/COO

Albert Pimentel is joining McAfee Inc. as COO and CFO beginning May 15. He will be responsible for leading all worldwide finance, IT, facilities and manufacturing functions. Pimentel will report directly to president and CEO Dave DeWalt.
