The Supreme Court appeal incumbent telecoms filed in November amounts to little more than a “disagreement” with a Federal Court of Appeal decision, focused on policy considerations that have no place before Canada’s highest court, according to a filing from one of the incumbents’ chief adversaries in the long-running court fight over the CRTC’s rates for third-party wholesale access, TekSavvy Solutions Inc.

Rogers, Shaw get cableco support in demand for relocation payments

Rogers Communications Inc. and Shaw Communications Inc. have the support of two regional telecom companies in a joint Part 1 that they filed, requesting that the CRTC force the British Columbian government to give compensation for mandatory relocation of their infrastructure in the province.

OPC supports PIAC call for CRTC to clarify rules for tracing apps

While it believes the CRTC’s existing definition of “customer confidential information” is broad enough to protect the use of the IP addresses and phone numbers of those using the federal COVID-19 alert app and its Alberta ABTraceTogether counterpart, the federal privacy watchdog has said it would support the CRTC explicitly stating so.
