ISED issues rules for 3800 MHz spectrum auction

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) issued the rules for its next spectrum auction Thursday. The auction will begin on Oct. 24, 2023 and will feature spectrum in the 3800 MHz band.

CRTC yearly telecom fees increase by 24 per cent

The CRTC is estimating that its telecommunications fees for the 2022-2023 fiscal year will total just more than $47.5 million, according to its telecom order released Wednesday.

Corus revenue up, profit down

For the three months that ended on May 31, Corus Entertainment Inc.‘s overall revenue was up to $433.5 million from $403 million this time last year, according to the company’s third quarter results released Wednesday.

Court finds Videotron did not violate Rovi patents

The Federal Court dismissed a digital entertainment company’s lawsuit alleging that Quebecor Inc.’s Videotron infringed on its interactive television program guide (IPG) patents because the technology is part of the common knowledge of a skilled person.

CRTC approves claims for broadband rollout in North

Monday the CRTC approved claim forms for four projects under the Broadband Fund. The payment orders went to the Kativik Regional Government in northern Quebec and to three projects from BCE Inc.’s Northwestel Inc.
