Rogers to buy Alberta station CJCY-FM

Rogers Communications Inc. said it will buy an Alberta radio station after coming to an agreement with Clear Sky Radio Inc. to acquire the licence of the station. The Medicine Hat classic hits music station CJCY-FM at 102.1 also services communities including Redcliff, Dunmore, Seven Persons and Bow Island. The CRTC must still approve the deal, but closing is expected in the coming months, a Tuesday press release said. CRTC to hold Toronto hearing on broadcasting applications

The CRTC said Thursday that it has scheduled a hearing to take place in Toronto on Nov. 27 to consider 11 broadcasting applications. They include three applications for stations in Grimsby and Beamsville, Ont., and three in Georgina, Ont., as well as applications for corporate reorganizations by Telus Corp. and Quebecor Inc.’s Videotron.
