Verizon to offer Samsung 5G phones in U.S. next year

U.S. telecom Verizon Communications Inc. plans to have device manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co.’s 5G-compatible smartphones in the U.S. market within the first half of next year, the two companies announced Monday. That would appear to give Samsung a jump on Apple Inc. for early 5G customers by about a year. Apple is holding off until at least 2020 before offering a 5G iPhone, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the company’s plans.
