U.S. telecom Verizon Communications Inc. plans to have device manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co.’s 5G-compatible smartphones in the U.S. market within the first half of next year, the two companies announced Monday. That would appear to give Samsung a jump on Apple Inc. for early 5G customers by about a year.
