Northwestel has temporarily appointed Paul Flaherty as president. The former president of Northern Telephone Ltd and Nortel Mobility has also worked at Bell Canada.  Lawrence Cunningham is now VP corporate affairs and general counsel for Total Telecom Inc. Cunningham has been a director of the Edmonton-based company and had practiced commercial law at the firm of Hustwick, Wetsch and Co. Norigen Communications Inc has appointed Lauchie MacLeod as VP real estate. Before joining the Toronto-based CLEC, he was major account manager at Ainsworth Inc. They're playing musical chairs at C1 Communications. The new regional VP for the Maritimes is Andrew Belliveau, the former GM for business solutions at the Saint John NB company. He previously worked for Rogers Cantel. Another Rogers alumnus, Craig Crossman has been named VP strategic channel development. The former VP sales in the Maritimes for C1, Crossman has also worked for NB Tel. The firm has also appointed Ewan Crawford as the new VP network operations. He formerly worked for Fundy Communications, Rogers Network Services and British Telecom. Jacques Melo is the new president and CEO of Informission Group Inc of Montreal. He was previously EVP and CIO of the Quebecor subsidiary. Melo replaces Jacques Topping, who remains on the corporate board. Suzanne Morin has been appointed to the Standards Council of Canada.
