There are two new faces at Montreal telecom consulting firm Lemay-Yates Associates Inc. Pierre Cloutier, formerly of Teleglobe, the Economic Council of Canada and the federal finance department, joins as a senior consultant, while Yvan Petit is the new VP. He has worked for Ericsson Communications, Optinet, Reuters and Bell-Northern Research. CLEC C1 Communications has appointed three new VPs. Jonathan Daniels will be in charge of regulatory affairs and carrier relations. Most recently with Covad Canada Communications Inc, he has also worked for Call-Net Enterprises and practiced law with Stikeman Elliot. Quebec regional VP Roger Quirion has been with the Gartner Group, PSINet Ltd and Sprint Canada. John Wigboldus, the new western Canada VP, is an alumnus of MetroNet Communications, AT&T Canada International Services and BCTel. Sue DiPoce has been appointed VP human resources and administration at Cannect Communications Inc. She previously worked at Lotus Development Corp and Lotus Development Canada Ltd. Norigen Communications Inc has named Robert Demers as VP sales for Quebec. Prior to joining Norigen, Demers was the managing director for Winstar International in Argentina where he led the launch of the start up company. He has also held senior level positions at Bell Canada, Bell Mobility and CellStar Corp. Norigen has also appointed Andres Schneiter to the position of VP of wireless engineering, responsible for developing Norigen’s wireless program as well as designing and deploying its network on a national basis. Prior to joining Norigen, he led his own consulting organization AFS Microwave in British Columbia. Previously, he was senior director of the wireless communications division at MRP Teltech. Robert Kearney, a former president and CEO of Bell Canada, has joined the board of directors of Canbras Communications Corp. Canbras is a subsidiary of Bell Canada International, itself a division of BCE Inc. Scott Toborg is the first chief information officer for 360networks Inc. The Teledesic Corp and SBC Technology Resources veteran will work out of the Seattle office of the fibre building company. Ian McDonald has been named VP sales for the Electric Mail Co of Vancouver. He had worked at GT Group Telecom, Williams Communications, Telus Mobility, Unitel Communications and CNCP Telecommunications (now part of AT&T Canada). Roderick O’Keefe is the new VP sales for IPWorld Communications Corp. He joins the firm from RSL COM Canada Inc, where he worked in data network sales. The company has also appointed Kenneth Parr as CFO. There have been several senior executive appointments at Rogers AT&T Wireless, including Nadir Mohamed as the company’s new president and COO. For the past 18 months, he was the senior VP sales and marketing at Telus Communications Inc. Prior to joining Telus in February 1999, he held senior financial, strategic business development and operational management positions at both BCTel and BCTel Mobility. While at BCTel, he helped create the company’s high-speed data networking solution which culminated in his appointment as president and COO at BCTel Mobility. John Gossling has been appointed senior VP and CFO at Rogers AT&T Wireless. He had been a partner in the KPMG’s U.S. Capital Market Group.Arnie Stephens has been named president, Western Canada. Most recently, Stephens was acting executive VP, Telus and acting president of Telus Mobility. Rogers AT&T Wireless has also promoted Darryl Levy to president, MidWest Region, responsible for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario. He had been VP and GM for Rogers in the MidWest Region. Cognicase Inc has named Paul Forostowsky president of the company’s Internet and wireless technologies group. He was previously president and CEO for several companies in the electronics, information and Internet technologies sectors in Europe. OnSat.net Canada Inc has appointed David Stephens as its president and CEO replacing outgoing acting chief executive David Molinaro. The company has also appointed Kuen Damiano as the company’s new COO replacing Eric Meger. Darren Hensly has been named the company’s new CFO replacing Dinesh Dattani, the CFO of the original junior capital pool company. The three major executive changes are designed to further align the management of the company with that of its U.S. affiliate, OnSat Network Communications Inc. Both Stephens and Damiano are the founders of the U.S. affiliate. Damiano is the current CTO and COO, and Stephens is president and CEO of OnSat Networks. Kasten Chase has named Jim Davis president and COO. He was previously based in New York City where he served as Standards & Poor’s executive managing director of capital market services. He is also past president and CEO of Dow Jones Telerate Canada. Paul Hyde remains CEO of the company and assumes the new role of vice chair of the board of directors. Stratos Global Corp has named Robert Benson executive VP and CFO, following a successful year in the same position with Stratos’ parent company Aliant Inc. Paradigm Advanced Technologies Inc of Toronto has appointed James Gillen as CTO, responsible for technology research and development, strategic licensing and patent development. He had worked as CTO at Ottawa-based ThinWeb Technologies, a developer of applications for online database access, mobile and wireless devices. He has also held senior positions with Bell Mobility, Bell Sigma, Minacom International and Rydex Industries Corp. NHC Communications Inc has appointed Thomas Super as chief technology officer. He previously worked as VP, systems inte-gration and testing at Bell Atlantic. His new responsibilities include securing access to ILEC, CLEC and multiple unit markets.
