Photochannel Networks Inc has appointed Kyle Hall, VP sales and business development of the company’s U.S. subsidiary Photochannel Inc. Hall brings more than 10 years of sales experience in a variety of software companies. Most recently, he worked for Telepix Imaging Inc where he served as VP sales, marketing and business development. He will be responsible for developing and implementing all Photochannel’s sales and business development initiatives, as well as the establishment and management of sales and business development teams. Bill McMullin, chair and CEO at InfoInterActive Inc, Halifax, has been named Business Person of Year at the inaugural Metro Halifax Business Awards ceremony September 12. McMullin earned the award for having grown InfoInterActive into a major application service provider of Internet call management services, by guiding the company through financing, product development and commercialization. The award was established by the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce and celebrates the achievements of local business people. The Centre for Innovation Law and Policy has appointed Jonathan Putnam to the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. He will join the centre in January 2001. As a member of the faculty and the centre, his research and teaching will be focused primarily in the intellectual property area. Putnam holds a doctoral degree in economics from Yale University and is considered an expert in intellectual property, antitrust, technological change, industrial organization and applied microeconomics. He is currently VP at Charles River Associates, an economic and business consulting firm. NextClick: The Personalization Agency has named Travis Stel VP knowledge management. Prior to joining NextClick, he held a senior level management position with a Canadian corporate website developer. While being responsible for the management and upgrading of the company’s web site, he will play a lead role in identifying, understanding and assembling innovative personalization technologies that complement and strengthen the company’s existing global technology partner network. The management team for the newly combined entity of New Hilarity Inc and Orbit Canada Inc has been unveiled. The company has appointed Gordon McMehen, president and CEO, Douglas Lloyd VP technology, Daniel Argiros VP and CFO, and Ian Hochberg, VP marketing. Prior to joining the company, McMehen was executive VP and COO of Central Park Lodges Ltd, a national provider of nursing and retirement home accommodation and other healthcare services. He has more than 20 years of corporate and commercial law experience specializing in project and corporate finances. Previously employed by Orbit Canada, Lloyd played a major role in the development and deployment of the company’s fibre optic and wireless network. He has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications and broadcast industries. Argiros is a chartered accountant who has more than 15 years experience in financial management. Prior to this appointment, he was president and CEO of TSE traded Acanthus Real Estate Corp. Hochberg, who has been providing management, marketing and financial consulting services to the high tech industry for the past 10 years, has served as vice chair of the telecommunications policy committee at the Information Technology Association of Canada. The Canadian Association of Broadcasters has appointed Erica Redler general counsel and senior VP legal affairs. Reporting directly to the president and CEO Michael McCabe, she will be responsible for areas such as copyright, trade policy, corporate governance, advertising, labour/human rights and societal issues. Prior to joining the CAB, she was senior legal counsel at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp and manager at the Canadian Retransmission Rights Association.
