Bill Linton is the latest president and CEO of Call-Net Enterprises Inc. The veteran of Prior Data Science Inc, SHL Systemhouse Inc and Rogers Cantel Inc replaces Kevin Bennis who resigned in July. The board of Cannect Networks Ltd, the holding company of CLEC Cannect Communications Inc, has chosen Gary McCone as its new chair. The former president of marketing, wholesale/carrier & consumer services for AT&T Canada succeeds Richard Rice. Also elected to the board are Avi Dalfen from Research Capital Corp, Lorne Salzman of the McCarthy Tetrault law firm and Thomas Uger of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Cannect has also named Dan Bobowski as senior VP operations. He comes to the company from AT&T Canada in British Columbia. CLEC Norigen Communications Inc has made a series of appointments. Harry Zarek, formerly of Compugen Services Ltd, is senior VP national sales. John Papadakis, the new senior VP technology and networks, is a veteran of Nortel, AT&T Canada, Sprint and Clearnet. The VP sales Alberta is Brian Gibson, who previously worked for Edmonton Telephone and for Telus. They’re playing musical chairs at Total Telcom Inc. Craig Baker is stepping down as CEO of the fibre builder to become EVP of the corporation. Glen Boyd, VP and GM of subsidiary Total Telcom Fiber Inc, moves up to become CEO of the Edmonton firm. Neil Magrath, former chair and president of Total Telcom, replaces Baker on the board of directors. Duncan McEwan has been named CEO of NorthPoint Canada Communications, a high-speed Internet access provider. He previously worked at Canadian Satellite Communications Inc (Cancom). Gordie Campbell has left his position in Investor Relations Services for Look Communications. He has joined Hostopia.com, an ASP with offices in Toronto and Fort Lauderdale FL. Paradigm Advanced Technologies Inc of Toronto has appointed Joseph Schembri as chief of engineering for its PowerLOC Technologies Inc subsidiary. He formerly worked at Tie Communications Research Inc, where he was president, and at Nortel and Motorola. The company has also named Edward Antecol as general counsel. The president of Aliant subsidiary Innovatia Robert Neal has joined the board of Voice Mobility International. He began his career at NBTel which has evolved into Aliant. Dale Beeston is the new VP of global sales for BCB Voice Systems Inc, which will soon change its name to VoiceIQ. She previously worked at AT&T Canada Corp and Rogers AT&T Wireless Inc. The president and CEO of Ericsson Canada Inc Brian Barry has been named to the board of directors of wireless Internet provider Wysdom. The 18-year Ericsson veteran has held positions in Ireland, Britain and Canada. The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has named James Burke as its VP information technology and telecommunications. Burke, who previously worked at Heathrow Airport in London, will oversee all telecommunications and IT requirements for the company. Norma Reveler is the new editor of Canadian Communications Reports, affiliate publication to Network Letter.
