Continuing its European expansion strategy, Sierra Wireless Inc has appointed Derek Evans as VP distribution for Europe. He will be responsible for leading the company’s market entry initiatives including distribution, sales, business development and technical support. Evans has more than 20 years of GM sales and marketing experience with blue chip companies in the wireless, telecommunications and consumer electronics industries. Prior to joining Sierra Wireless, he held similar positions in Europe as GM/sales director at Dolphin Telecom, general sales manager at Hitachi UK Ltd and GM Call Connections Ltd. Daniel Young has been named VP enterprise solutions for Nortel Networks Corp in the Caribbean and Latin America. He will be responsible for sales and marketing of Internet telephony, optical infrastructure, convergence and contact center solutions. Young was previously a director of business development for Nortel in Latin America with the responsibility for new market development. He joined Nortel back in 1987 and helped lead the wireless Internet business in the region as director of commercial marketing and engineering. Before joining Nortel, Young spent nine years at BellSouth. Unity Wireless has hired Dominic Garcia as a senior RF engineer and Angie Dosanjh as manager of corporate communications. She will be stationed at the company’s facility in Burnaby BC. Garcia was previously at Philips Semiconductor where he occupied a similar position and was involved in the development of new hybrid RF power amplifier modules. Prior to joining Unity Wireless, Dosanjh was communications manager at User Friendly Media Inc.Léo Houle has been appointed as chief talent officer at BCE Inc. Houle was most recently VP human resources for Alcan Inc. He brings more than 30 years experience to the position ranging from a variety of human resources management positions from the Bank of Montreal and the Algroup. VoiceIQ has added a CTO to its executive ranks and appointed Oleg Feldgajer to the position. He’s the former CEO at International Neural Machines which was recently acquired by VoiceIQ. He has also joined the board of directors. SiGEM Inc has appointed David Edwards as its interim CFO replacing David Ellis who is leaving the company to take on other responsibilities. A permanent replacement is expected to be made within the next couple of months. Edwards is one of the founders of the company and its current corporate secretary. Apogee Networks has named S Craig Huke as its new CFO. He will assume full responsibility for all financial planning, reporting, analysis and investor relations for the company. Huke brings more than 15 years experience to the table in the software and communications industries having been in both post-IPO and pre-IPO environments. He was formerly CFO at Bluestone Software where he was a major contributor to several key financing activities including the company’s IPO in September 1999. Mel Roberts has joined ATMOS Corp in the capacity of senior director product line management. He is a 20-year veteran of the semiconductor business having held senior level positions in applications engineering with Mitel Corp, Tundra Semiconductor and more recently with Chrysalis-ITS. Gordon Baker has been appointed to the board of directors of Triangulum Corp, a company that provides wireless data, fleet tracking and asset management solutions through its operating subsidiaries AVL Automatic Vehicle Locations Systems Ltd, Insight Corp and Insight USA Inc. Baker has more than 25 years experience in the legal field including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financings. JP Mobile has four new executives that it hopes will drive the company’s sales and marketing push. Bob Shields, a former Nokia executive, has been appointed to the new position of COO. Scott Ross has been added as VP sales and alliances. Farlin Halsey takes over as VP of marketing and Randy Reed becomes senior director of customer solutions. ANT Ltd has appointed Jonathon Hoskin as CTO, while David MacKay joins the firm as a non-executive director. Hoskin will lead development and deliver on ANT’s product road map. MacKay’s business experience and legal background will be a valuable asset to the company.
