Two of Unique Broadband Systems Inc’s leading executives have decided to leave the company. Both Alex Dolgonos, president, CEO and chair of the board, and Stephen Rosen, executive VP and CFO, are stepping down from their positions in a move the company describes as one that will maximize shareholder value. While Rosen is also leaving his post as a director, Dolgonos will remain a director and be a technical consultant to the company. At Paradigm Advanced Technologies’ Annual General Meeting earlier this month, the company introduced three new members to its team. Moise Benedid joins the company as VP operations, Ron Yekutiel becomes GM at Paradigm wholly owned subsidiary GPSoft, and R. Charles Allen takes on the position of VP and general counsel. Fixed wireless access equipment manufacturer Redline Communications has made a couple of key executive additions. David White has joined as president and CEO and Kevin Suitor joins as VP business development. White brings more than 25 years experience to the table and most recently served as VP worldwide sales for Sharegate of Reno NV. He has also worked for Sentient Networks and CopperCom. Suitor has more than 20 years experience, having most recently worked in the market development department at CopperCom. Prior to joining CopperCom, he was executive VP and CTO at CTI Datacom Inc for seven years. Nortel Networks Corp may have lost another possible replacement for the company’s outgoing chief executive John Roth. Anil Khatod, chief marketing and strategy officer at Nortel, has decided to step down in order to pursue other opportunities. He has been in the job since last April and was considered a possible successor to Roth, president and CEO who will be stepping down next April. Earlier this year, Clarence Chandron decided to leave his position as well. In other Nortel appointments, Cheam Tat-Inn has taken on the role of managing director for Nortel in Malaysia. John Giamatteo, a 13-year veteran of Nortel, has jumped into the president’s seat for Nortel in Japan. He replaces Norio Murakami, who has retired. Julpas "Tom" Kruesopon is now the managing director for Nortel operations in Thailand and Vietnam. He is responsible for delivering Internet services to Nortel customers in the two nations. C-COM Satellite Systems Inc has named Russel Newbury as its VP marketing and sales. Prior to joining the company, Newbury served as VP marketing and sales for CubeWerx, a Hull QC-based spatial data warehousing software developer. He brings more than 15 years experience in sales and marketing from the telecommunications, software and petroleum industries. Sean Budnik has been appointed VP business development at unified communications firm 01 Communique Laboratory Inc. With more than 15 years experience, he was most recently president and CEO at Wright Technologies. Prior to his tenure at Wright, he was director of OEM sales at MGI Software Corp where he was responsible for all licensing and strategic partnerships. There has been some recent key changes and Canadian Satellite Communications Inc and its Star Choice subsidiary since the two companies became a division of Shaw Communications. Peter Classon is no longer president of Cancom and Star Choice. He will, however, work on special projects for Cancom as a consultant. The following people have also left Star Choice: David Lewis, senior VP and CTO, Bruce Barr, senior VP residential services, and Wendy Herman, VP marketing and promotion. Brad Shaw recently joined Star Choice as senior VP operations. The following have joined or changed jobs. Jim Cummins has been appointed VP sales for Star Choice. Mike Kaumeyer takes on the VP marketing role. Don Fletcher, has moved on to the position of VP engineering and operations at Cancom. He was previously, VP technical services. Carole Taylor has been appointed chair of the board of directors at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. She has vast experience in broadcasting, public affairs, arts and culture, and business. As a journalist, her career spanned more than 20 years. Teleglobe has promoted Randy Ivey to the position of VP Internet engineering and operations. He previously served as director of the same positon. In his new role, he will be responsible for the company’s global IP network including planning, backbone engineering, network deployment and Internet operations. Ernst & Young has released the nominees for Entrepreneur of the Year in various categories across the nation. Selected in the technology and communications division in British Columbia are Isidor Buchmann of Cadex Electronics Inc, William Hunter of Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc and Dave Steeves of Steeves and Associates. The Prairies have two telecom-related nominees. Maureen Mitchells of Winnipeg’s Can Talk is a candidate in the business-to-business products and services sector, while Arnon Levy of Calgary’s Guest-Tek is in the running for emerging entrepreneur. In Ontario the technology and communications candidates are Mark Chamberlain of Wescam Inc of Burlington, Nick Majors from Toronto’s ActionFront Data Recovery Labs Inc, Greg Walling of Cabletel Communications Corp, and Doug Young from Cygnal Technologies Corp of Oshawa. Omur Sezerman of Ottawa’s OZ Optics Ltd is nominated in the manufacturing category. The technology and communications nominees in Quebec are David Ben-David of NSI Communications, Wavesat Telecom’s Dennis Ma, Rudolf Melik of Tenrox, and Jean Mignault from 20/20 Technologies Inc. Sylvie Boileau of Dubo Électrique is a candidate in the business-to-business products and services category. In Atlantic Canada, the technology and communications nominees are Michael MacDonald of DownEast Communications Inc in Halifax, Emad Rizkall of ZeddComm Inc in St. John’s NF, and Trevor Sawler from Fredericton’s CrescentStudio.com. Novel Inc has announced a new leadership team following the company’s acquisition of Cambridge Technology Partners. Novel has appointed four regional presidents, all from Cambridge, to manage both Novell Net services software and Cambridge’s e-business services. H. Carve Moore becomes president of Novell Americas, Rhonda O’Donnell takes over Novell Asia Pacific, Gerard Van Kemmel goes to Novell EMEA and Hitoshi Yoshida becomes president of Novell Japan. All the regional presidents report to Steward Nelson, executive VP and COO at the company. Novell executives say all the pieces of the puzzle are now in place to better serve a growing customer base.
