Wi-LAN Inc of Calgary has made two major executive and board level changes. The company's CFO Peter Kinash has left to pursue other interests and will be replaced by Steve Bellamy who held the same position at UC Wireless, a subsidiary of the Calgary-based company, since 1998. Bellamy has more than 20 years experience in financial operations both in North America and Europe with a particular strength in mergers and acquisitions, fundraising and cash management. Additionally, Michel Fattouche, chair and CEO at Cell-Loc Inc, has stepped down from the board of directors in order to spend more time on his responsibilities at Cell-Loc. Zi Corp has appointed Howard Balloch to its board. He has also been appointed chair of the company's e-learning company in China, Oztime. Balloch has diverse and extensive experience in the political and economic environment in China having served as Canada's ambassador to China for more than five years. He retired from the foreign service earlier this year. Stratos Global Corp has appointed Dave Oliver Jr. to its board of directors. He is the former principal deputy under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics with the U.S. Department of Defense. He served two administrations until July 2001. Previously, he was manager of naval analysis for Westinghouse Electric Systems Group in Baltimore and director of technology and business development for naval systems at Northrop Grunmman. Mike Sangster has been named director, government and corporate accounts at C-COM Satellite Systems Inc, Ottawa. He will be responsible for initiating and developing the company's government and corporate customer base and has a wealth of experience in developing and leading accounts with all levels of government. Prior to joining C-COM, he held director of sales and government relations positions with SNS Systems and Assure Health Inc. These companies were ultimately purchased by BCE Emergis where he later served as account executive eHealth solutions group. Philip Donne has decided to leave his positions as president of Cossette Toronto and co-president at Cossette Montreal, both part of the Cossette Communications Group. IceFyre Semiconductor has appointed Mark Roberts as VP marketing thus solidifying its product marketing and customer management capabilities for the emerging 802.11a chip market. Roberts has more than 17 years experience in marketing, sales, applications and design engineering. He was most recently VP marketing at Mosaid Technologies' semiconductor division where he spearheaded the company's transition from a memory systems design firm to a fabless semiconductor offering a broad range of networking chips. Throughout his career, he has held positions of increasing importance with Ottawa-based corporations and National Semiconductor in Canada, Japan and the United States. Pivotal Corp has named Bo Manning as its president and CEO. He is a 20-year veteran of the technology and customer relationship management industry. Manning is the former leader of Deloitte Consulting's CRM practice. Globus Wireless has named Gene Haley as its U.S. sales director. He has more than 15 years experience in the wireless telecommunications field having helped several companies build their sales and distribution channels. Haley has held senior level sales positions at IDT Wireless, SourceOne Wireless, NEC and Southwestern Bell. The Quebec Chapter of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute has named its officers for 2001-2002. The new president is Isabelle Adjahi, director of investor relations at Axcan Pharma Inc. Past president is Denis Chouinard, treasury director at Metro Inc. Newsline and PR coordinator is Marie-Genevieve Crepeau, an investor relations and communications consultant. Other officers include: Marie-Christine Dufour, VP communications and public affairs at CineGroupe; John Gutpell, director investor relations at BCE Emergis Inc; Susan Herman, partner, executive VP, Stylus Strategic Communications'; Peter McBride, past chair at CIRI National; Stephane Milot, director of investor relations at Transcontinental Group; Maarike Paul, VP investor relations at BCE Inc; Valerie Peck, director investor relations at Air Canada; Susan Phaneuf, corporate communications consultant; and Grace Pollock, president, The InvestComm Group Inc.
