Agilent enhances Bluetooth testing kitAgilent Technologies Inc. has introduced a new Bluetooth test set. The new Agilent E1852B Bluetooth Test Set can be used in the development and manufacture of Bluetooth wireless networking devices. In other Agilent news, it has also released instrument software for testing components of the 1xEV-DO cdma2000 3G wireless specification. The software enables the verification of the performance of circuit designs and hardware for these types of base stations. TRAK releases filter for wireless cable equipmentThe microwave subsidiary of TRAK Communications has introduced new ceramic bandpass filters for wireless cable TV head-end applications. The center frequency of model 310-00021 is 2200 MHz and 2650 MHz for model 301-00022. TRAK has also released a new ceramic diplexer filer for wireless base stations. It operates in the 806-849 MHz transmit channel and the 1850-1910 MHz receive channel. Ascendent Telecom offers wireless PBXEncino CA-based Ascendent Telecom has developed a technology that converts any remote device into a portable extension of the PBX desktop phone. The company is selling its products through large wireless carriers such as Telus, Nextel and Cingular. 3Com releases new wireless LAN products3Com has released some new wireless LAN products that reconfirm the company’s commitment to the enterprise market. The new wireless LAN products are the Access Point 8000 and the Access Point 2000. The company can boast of a wide range of products that address various industry needs from the simplest of solution to the most complex. The products were released at the company’s North American Partner Conference in Las Vegas at the end of last month. Radiant Networks lands major funding roundU.K.-based Radiant Networks Plc has completed a third round of funding, which netted the company US$23 million. The funding was led by Advent Venture Partners and included investment from existing investors Intel Capital and Sandler Capital. This investment round is expected to provide the company with enough capital to fulfill its order backlog and to fund further product development activities. Radiant’s product MESHWORKS allows users to get high-speed connections by connecting with their neighbour rather than going through a base station. uRoam and Terra form strategic relationshipuRoam Inc. and Terra Corp. have formed a strategic relationship whereby Terra will represent uRoam’s products, technology and services in Asia. uRoam provides products that support remote access to corporate desktops and networks from PCs, and other remote devices such as Palm devices, the BlackBerry, PocketPC devices, among others. Wavecom reports major revenue increase for 2001France-based Wavecom SA has posted a 241%-increase in revenue in 2001. Fourth quarter revenue increased as well growing from US$26.2 million in 2000 to US$92.7 million last year. The company expects revenue for 2002 to grow substantially as its customers begin to gain market share. ITU sets wideband speech encoding standardThe International Telecommunication Union has approved a new standard for high-quality digital wideband speech encoding that will bring significant improvements to interoperability and implementation across a variety of communications mediums including wireless. The standard is known as Recommendation G.722.2, but is also referred to as the Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) codec.
