Moontaxi music subscription service forges ahead with labels’ blessings

Toronto-based Moontaxi Media will shortly be bringing a new music subscription service to Canadians in advance of any formal tariffs. Though under strict confidentiality agreements, co-CEO Alistair Mitchell says the company has had discussions with both the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) and the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency, and with partners Universal Music and EMI that will allow the company to offer music-on-demand in an interactive fashion.
