Rogers Wireless Communications Inc. has appointed Bruce Good as VP national corporate sales, effective immediately. He will be responsible for all corporate sales initiatives, including national corporate accounts and enterprise solutions. Good brings more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications and information technology industries having most recently served as national sales executive in the global services division at IBM Canada. Prior to joining IBM, he held senior management positions with Nortel Networks and Bell Canada. Antoine Paquin has stepped down as president and CEO of Ottawa wireless graphics firm BitFlash. Paquin was quoted in the daily press as saying it was time to concentrate on other ventures and that his time at BitFlash was complete. He had been with the struggling company for the past 13 months. He is credited with securing a $23-million round of funding for the company last spring. But recently BitFlash has had to lay off the majority of its marketing staff to keep expenses in check. The move was also made because the company has decided to market its technology directly to chip makers. The board of directors at Certicom Corp. has appointed Ian McKinnon president and CEO, taking over the role on March 11. McKinnon will be headquartered out of the company’s Mississauga ON offices. He has also been appointed to the board. McKinnon has more than 20 years experience having led several privately held Canadian companies. Prior to those ventures, he was president and CEO at Promis Systems from 1995 until 2000. BCE Inc. has made a couple of major executive announcements. Pierre Blouin has been named executive VP of BCE adding to his duties as CEO of Bell Mobility. Blouin will work closely with Michael Sabia, president and COO at BCE, to help drive product development and build efficiencies to achieve greater levels of performance for the media and communications conglomerate. Michael Neuman has been named president and COO of Bell Mobility. Neuman is currently executive VP of Teleglobe and has held several executive positions within the BCE group and is the founding CEO of Bell ExpressVu. There has been a changing of the guard at Nortel Networks. John Roth has decided to not stand for re-election to the board of directors of Nortel Networks, Bill Owen has gained a seat at the board table and Red Wilson returns as non-executive chair of the board of directors. These changes also reflect the dissolution of the so-called Office of the Chief Executive, which was created following the resignation of Roth and the appointment of Frank Dunn as president and CEO. Owens is vice-chair of the board of directors and co-CEO of Teledesic LLC. Roadpost Inc. has added two key executives to its board of directors. Charles Brown, VP of sales and marketing at WaveRider Communications, and Richard Mashaal, president of Senvest International, have joined the board. Both are experienced executives with Mashaal coming from the investment community and Brown being in the telecommunications equipment market. Michael Cardiff has joined Burntsand’s board of directors. He is currently president and CEO of Fincentric Corp., a developer of wealth management software for the global banking industry. Syscan International has named David Koa as its COO. He has more than 15 years experience in senior marketing and strategy positions in the electronics and communications industries. Stephen Dow has been promoted to the position of VP partner sales at Sun Microsystems Canada. Under Dow’s leadership, Sun’s Canadian Partner Region has developed into a strong community of business partners. Members include leading Canadian solution integrators, system providers, service providers, and independent software vendors. Ronald Zarrella has been appointed to the board of directors of Avaya Inc. He is chair and CEO of Bausch & Lomb and is a member of the board of directors at First USA.
