BCE Inc. has made more changes in the executive suite. Pierre Blouin has been named EVP of the corporation but will continue as CEO of Bell Mobility. He will be assisted at the wireless firm by new president/COO Michael Neuman. Neuman had been EVP of Teleglobe and was the founding CEO of Bell ExpressVu. Romeo De Gasperis has been confirmed as president/CEO of Futureway Communications Inc. He had been acting in the role, following the departure of Stephen McCartney (NL, Jan. 29/02). Nortel Networks Corp. has shifted the board of directors. Former CEO John Roth will not stand for re-election, Red Wilson is now non-executive chair, and Bill Owens has been elected to the board. Owens is vice chair/co-CEO of Teledesic LLC. Cary Ng has been appointed CFO at Unilink Tele.Com. The 18-year financial executive has experience with Canadian and American companies. Unilink president Tommy Chan is assuming the role of COO. Don Calder, the former CEO of BC Telecom (now Telus), has been elected to the board of directors of Voice Mobility. He currently acts as vice-chair of the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corp., which hopes to win the Winter Olympics for the British Columbia city. Former Industry minister Brian Tobin’s communications director Heidi Bonnell has been appointed VP communications at Hill and Knowlton Canada’s communications group. She has eight years experience having served under Tobin during his tenure at Industry Canada, the department of Fisheries and Oceans, and his premiership of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Federal Communications Commission has made a series of appointments in the common carrier bureau. Scott Bergmann is now legal counsel to bureau chief Dorothy Attwood. He has been with the FCC since July 1996 and will advise on local competition, broadband deployment and numbering issues. Another legal counsel, Jessica Rosenworcel, will handle universal service and broadband issues. She was previously the attorney advisor in the bureau’s policy division. Christopher Libertelli is now special counsel for competition policy. He had been legal counsel to the bureau chief and also worked in the policy division.
