Mike Unger has been appointed to the board of directors of Sigma Systems, which provides service management solutions to cable operators worldwide. He was most recently president of Nortel Networks’ optical networks business unit. Pam Leyland has been appointed president of Rawlco Radio. A resident of Saskatoon since 1974, Leyland joined CKOM in Saskatoon in 1978, working as a news broadcaster, news director and operations manager before being promoted to CP and general manager of Rawlco Radio’s Saskatoon stations in 1989. Rawlco Radio operates 12 radio stations in Saskatchewan. Berni Wood has been named regional VP for Atlantic Canada of the Canadian Television Fund. Carole Vivier takes on the position for Central Canada and Susan Brinton for Canada West. The CTF’s Toronto office will cover the Ontario region, and its Montreal office will be responsible for the Quebec region. "Our objective in establishing a presence for the fund across Canada is to strengthen our dialogue with industry partners throughout the country," said CTF president and CEO Garry Toth in announcing the creation of the new positions. Also at the CTF, Louise Baillargeon was promoted to senior VP. She joined the CTF in October 2000 as senior director of French policy and Montreal corporate affairs. The board of directors of Rogers Communications Inc. has extended the contract of founder Ted Rogers in his position as chief executive officer for three more years. VisionTV president and CEO Bill Roberts joins the international advisory council of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. In its fifth year, Hot Docs is an annual celebration of excellence in documentary film and television. Sam Billard has joined Ogilvy Renault as a partner at the firm’s Toronto office as a member of the business law group. Billard practices in the finance area with an emphasis on structured finance and commercial lending including structured leasing, securitization, project finance, film finance and syndicated lending.
