Smart phone shipments to increase significantly in next four years

Shipments of smartphones are expected to rise by more than 50 per cent over the next four years as technically-savvy users demand greater device functionality. Any rosy projections, however, should be tempered by the significant hurdles that lay ahead, says a major American market research firm. According to In-Stat/MDR, smartphone shipments should top nearly 16 million by 2006.
