BCE Inc. has made a major change within its management ranks. Jean Monty announced his resignation as chair and CEO last week. Michael Sabia will add the CEO post to his responsibilities, while continuing to serve as president and COO. Richard Currie will become non-executive chair. Monty joined BCE in 1997 as president and COO. He added the CEO title in 1998. Prior to joining BCE, he was with Nortel Networks Corp., where he became president and COO in 1992 and added the CEO position the following year. The operations of Microcell i5 have been integrated into Microcell PCS, and as a result, the company has had to let go its president and COO, François-Charles Sirois. F-C Sirois is the son of Microcell founder and largest shareholder Charles Sirois. In addition to Sirois fils , 17 other employees were let go. Eleven Engineering Inc. has appointed John Brick as president and CEO, replacing co-founder John Sobota who has been appointed CTO. Brick is a recognized high technology industry executive with more than 23 years experience in sales and marketing in various industries. Most recently, he served as VP sales of Nortel Networks Corp. Prior to joining Nortel, he was involved in consumer electronics sales and marketing for Sears Canada. Sreedhar Natarajan has joined the research and development team of ATMOS Corp., Ottawa, coming over from Texas Instruments Inc. He will be responsible for managing memory design projects and will contribute to the ongoing development of the company’s embedded DRAM compiler. At TI, he was a member of the group’s technical staff since 1997. Prior to joining TI, he was design manager for SRAM development at Paradigm Technologies. Natarajan has more than 20 filed and issued patents under his name. Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) Inc. has named Mike McCamon to the newly created position of executive director. He will initially focus on building stronger relationships between its members and the trade association, which will hopefully ensure a tight interoperability between Bluetooth products and long-term strategic planning. He joins the Bluetooth SIG with nearly 20 years of experience in the technology industry having served at Informix, Sybase, Apple Computer, Iomega and Intel Corp. Jesper Andersen has been appointed as executive VP of products at Pivotal Corp., a provider of customer relationship management (CRM) sofware. Andersen is the former VP of online CRM services of Oracle Corp. He will be tapped to lead the company’s technology vision and product development. He has more than 13 years experience in the technology industry and spent four at Oracle. The board of directors of the Women in Leadership Foundation has launched its groundbreaking programs and initiatives and has appointed Jannat Hamid and Sally Glover as members of its newly established advisory board. Hamid, who will serve as chair, is a consultant and entrepreneur and former VP of Canadian Women in Communications. Glover is a success coach, trainer and speaker. Adobe Systems Inc. has appointed Don Henderson Ottawa site leader and senior director of engineering for the company’s recently acquired operations in that city, formerly known as Accelio Corp. He was previously senior VP of global product development at Accelio, where he led product development, product quality, applied technology development and product management divisions. Cynthia Bertolin and Gordon Feeney have been appointed to the board of directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada. Bertolin is a director of Apeetagosan Metis Development Inc., an Alberta Aboriginal capital corporation. The company is responsible for lending money, providing business grants, and high-risk equity financing to Metis and non-status Indian entrepreneurs and businesses. Keeney has spent his entire career in the banking industry, having most recently served as deputy chair of the Royal Bank beginning in February 1999. He retired from the Bank in June 2001. Broadband communications service provider Canbras Communications Corp. has appointed some new members to its board of directors. Jose Guimaraes Monforte, Raul Rosenthal and William Anderson are replacing Jerry Grafstein, Omar Grine, Walter Longo and Thomas Steel. Infowave Software Inc. has made several senior executive changes. Thomas Koll has been appointed chair of the board of directors, replacing Morgan Sturdy who will remain on the board. Koll, who also steps down as CEO of the company, will turn over day-to-day operations of the company to the newly named Office of the President. It is compromised of George Reznik, CFO, Sal Visca, CTO and board member Jim McIntosh. The Vancouver firm also made other executive changes. John Diack has been named VP global sales. Matthew Eichhorst becomes VP business development and services. Ron Jasper takes over as VP business development for network operator solutions focused on global network operators. Heather Knox, director of corporate communications, takes on the additional responsibilities of corporate marketing and marketing communications. Rob Malcolmson has rejoined the Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and New Media Law Group at Goodmans LLP in Toronto as a partner. He was most recently president of Headline Media Group Inc., owner of the Score and PrideVision specialty television networks. Malcolmson was a partner at Goodmans before joining Headline Media. Axia NetMedia Corp. has added two industry executives to its leadership team. John Maynard becomes the new president of Netricom, Axia’s network infrastructure specialist. Jason Morsink joins as head of Axia’s sales and marketing team. Maynard, a chartered accountant, initially began his career in the manufacturing sector, but has worked in the insurance and financial sectors as well. Morsink has considerable experience in the sales and marketing field, having worked for TrizecHahn, ICE and was a founding member of IBM Corp.’s Internet business. Aliant has named three new members to its board: Victor Young, William Anderson and Peter Nicholson. Jay Forbes was appointed chair of the board of directors. The Canadian Centre for Marine Communications (CCMC) has appointed Gilles Lebrun as director. Lebrun is currently director, marine services and technology for Technopole Maritime du Québec. The new position was created as part of a partnership agreement between the two groups.
