As part of the reorganization at Teleglobe, John Brunette has been appointed CEO. He is the former EVP/chief administrative officer. EVP of voice Serge Fortin has been named COO. Charles Childers, who became president of the BCE division earlier this year (NL, Jan. 29/02), has resigned. Michael Sabia has relinquished his role as COO of BCE Inc. to John Sheridan, who will continue as president of Bell Canada. Stephen Wetmore, vice-chair of Bell Canada, adds the EVP duties of BCE to his responsibilities. David McLennan is moving from his position as president of Bell ExpressVu to become CFO of Bell Canada. He replaces Jon Klug, who is returning to SBC in the United States. McLennan’s old job at the satellite carrier goes to Tim McGee. The four-year veteran of Bell was most recently chief legal officer at Bell Canada. That role is now filled by Richard Mannion, who has been with the telco’s law department since 1984. BCE Emergis has named Pierre Blouin as CEO. The 18-year Bell veteran was EVP at BCE and CEO of Bell Mobility. He succeeds Brian Edwards, who is leaving the company. The ebusiness sector of the telecom conglomerate has also named René Poirier as president. He has worked for Emergis, Bell Canada, the Montreal Exchange and the Caisse Nationale de Crédit Agricole in France. His former position as CTO is now being handled by Ido Gileadi. Before joining Emergis, he spent six years with Deloitte Consulting. Bell Canada International Inc. has appointed BCE CFO Siim Vanaselja to the board of directors. Before joining the parent company, he was EVP and CFO at BCI. Departing the board are former BCE CEO Jean Monty, his successor Michael Sabia and Arnold Steinberg. Tim Kydd has been named customer service manager with SaskTel Mobility. His former position as director of corporate affairs is being taken by Michelle Englot. Gerry Pond, the former EVP at Aliant (NL, Nov. 6/01), has been named CEO at iMagicTV. He has been a member of the board for four years. Marcel LeBrun, who had been CEO, is keeping his job as president of company and adding the COO title. Communications and Information Technology Ontario has appointed Frank Friesacher as director of the business development team. He had been director of strategic business development and the netPCS business unit for netPCE Networks Inc. of Ottawa. Ashley Ward has resigned as CEO of Orchestream Holdings plc, following disappointing Q1 results. His job will be taken over by CFO Anthony Finbow. Orchestream bought CrossKeys Systems Corp. last year (NL, Apr. 23/01). Obituary Robert Richardson, who was president of Bell Canada Enterprises from 1984 to 1988, died in North Bay ON on May 11. The 73-year-old is survived by his wife Jane, three children and four grandchildren.
