Mark Hemingway has been elected as a director of the board of Look Communications Inc. He held the position of senior VP, general counsel and secretary of Look from January 2000 to January 2002. Other incumbent directors were re-elected to the board at a special meeting of shareholders on May 14. They are: chair Michael Cytrynbaum, Colin Campbell, Scott Colbran, Paul Lamontagne, Jean Noelting, and Chip Vallis. Gaston Germain becomes VP and general manager of Cogeco Cable’s Ontario division. Formerly, he was VP of Pelmorex and was a senior executive with former Northern Cable Holdings of Sudbury ON. Gary Switzer, who previously held the position, left the company for personal reasons. Edward Greenspon is to replace Richard Addis as editor of The Globe and Mail this summer. Greenspon, a political editor at the paper, also co-hosts CTV’s Question Period current affairs program on Sundays and appears regularly on ROBTv. Vancouver talents Michael Eckford and Fiona Forbes will join the on-air roster at CHUM Ltd.’s CKVU 13 this summer. Rand Stoll has been named executive VP of domestic sales at Lions Gate Television. He is responsible for distribution of Lions Gate television programming, telefilms, feature films and other filmed entertainment to cable and broadcast networks across North America. Previously, he was executive VP of programming for Pearson Television’s North American division (now Freemantle Media). Vision TV president and CEO Bill Roberts joins the board of directors of the Media Awareness Network (MNet), a non-profit organization that promotes media literacy. CHUM Television International has signed senior broadcast veteran Jon Helmrich as a consultant. He will concentrate on channel format development and partnerships internationally, as well as opening new areas of business in the U.S. market for CHUM. Helmrich last year launched International Broadcast Communications, a company dedicated to global programming distribution and channel development. Prior to that, he was a senior executive at E! Entertainment. Gerry Pond, the former EVP at Aliant, has been named CEO at iMagicTV. He has been a member of the board for four years. Marcel LeBrun, who had been CEO, is keeping his job as president of the company while adding the COO title. Aboriginal Peoples Television Network COO Ron Nadeau has left the station after two years. A replacement has not yet been named. The APTN board of directors opted to exercise an option to conclude Nadeau’s employment contract. Claude Galipeau has taken over the position of managing director of cbc.ca. Galipeau is well-known as the force behind Salter Street Films’ new media division that started in 1998, and as VP of broadcasting at Alliance Atlantis after that company purchased Salter. Frank Friesacher has been named director of the business development team at Communications and Information Technology Ontario (CITO).
