I.C.E. rehires half of its game developers
I.C.E. Multimédia has reportedly rehired half of the 30 game developers it laid off last January (CNM, Jan. 23/02). Lesaffaires.com reports that the staff returned to work on Friday, July 12 and will begin working on a second edition of the company’s Land of the Magic Stones edu-tainment game. The title is expected to be released in November. There is no word on whether the game will be released in any format except CD-ROM, but I.C.E.’s stated intent in restructuring its development staff was to examine creating titles for platforms such as game consoles. In May, company spokesperson Ron Vaillancourt told CNM that the company would definitely be developing for non-PC platforms. Further details are expected soon (CNM, May 31/02). More details.
