CRTC refuses Aliant market trial of VMI unified communications software

News | 09/30/2002 4:00 am EDT

The CRTC has again refused to allow Aliant Telecom Inc. to proceed with a market trial of a unified communications system developed by Voice Mobility International Inc. The commission has ruled that the parameters of the proposed trial are still too broad – Telecom Order 2002-383. This is the second time the commission has denied an application by the Atlantic telco to go ahead with the trial, and for the same reason (RoW, July 22/02). In Telecom Order 2002-290, the telco regulator insisted the scope of Aliant’s proposed market trial was too broad.
