Telus Mobility to improve SMS platform for wireless entertainment applications

Telus Mobility’s success with its wireless gaming and other entertainment applications has been largely based on using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) platform, but the company has new plans to make a bigger push in the short messaging service (SMS) environment. Speaking at the EXPO COMM Canada 2002 conference in Toronto last week, Darcy McNeill, Telus Mobility’s manager of business development for wireless content, told a small crowd that the company has begun work on translating the success of its WAP-based services to the SMS platform.
