Rocco Delvecchio, who worked for several years at TV Ontario, has been appointed consul general in Detroit.Cinémathèque québécoise has officially appointed Robert Boivin as director general. He has more than 30 years of experience with the organization, and the announcement follows news last year that Boivin had intended to quit the post. Kate Hanley has been named to the newly created position of president at Women in Film and Television, Toronto. Hanley was the organization’s former chair, and recently led it through an extensive strategic planning process. She joins the organization from the Jim Pattison Trade Group where she was VP of programming and development. Past experience includes service as director of strategic planning of NextMedia, where she worked with clients including the Ontario Association of Broadcasters, HMV.com, The Family Channel, and Vision TV. Canada NewsWire has tapped Melanie Kurzuk as senior VP of multimedia. Kurzuk began her career as a broadcast journalist with the CHUM radio group. She later served as media relations coordinator at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation before joining Canada NewsWire in 1997 as corporate communications manager, later appointed VP of corporate communications and broadcast services. She will be responsible for broadcast services, webcast services, and programming. Dave Forget has taken on the role of director of Telefilm Canada’s feature film unit, Ontario. Forget has 20 years of experience in the distribution of mainstream and specialty feature films. Prior to his new arrival in Toronto, he worked as a senior investment analyst with Telefilm’s western regional office. Before joining the agency in 2001, he was one of the founders of the Vancouver-based distribution company Red Sky Entertainment Ltd. He has also held positions at 20th Century Fox and Alliance Atlantis Releasing. Stéphane Boisvert has been appointed president of Sun Microsystems of Canada. He joins the company from IBM where he spent 17 years in various sales, marketing and operations positions.
