Jim Rusnak has been named VP/GM of CTV British Columbia, effective Jan. 1. He has held numerous senior broadcast management roles, including president of western operations for the Global Television Network (2000-2002), and president of CanWest Television Inc. (1993-2000). Kevin Goldstein, most recently manager of regulatory affairs at Corus Entertainment Inc., will be joining the regulatory department of CHUM Television. Goldstein will be reunited with Peter Miller, CHUM’s VP of planning and regulatory affairs. The two previously worked together at the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. More changes have been made at Vancouver-based Dion Entertainment, with Leo Dion stepping down as chair and CEO. Christophe Taylor and Louis Dion have joined as directors of the company. Taylor is an investment advisor with a national private investment and planning firm. Louis Dion has served many roles with the company, including director, officer and consultant. Earlier this month, it was announced that Frank Bingham had resigned from the board (CCR, Dec. 5/02). Isabel Bassett has been reappointed as chair of TV Ontario on the eve of the expiration of her first three-year contract (CCR, June 8/00). Shannon McPeak has been appointed VP of corporate sales at Osprey Media Group Inc. Based in Toronto, McPeak will be responsible for the company’s multi-market advertising sales across the country. Previously, she was at The Globe & Mail, where she worked on integrated media programs across a variety of multimedia platforms. Six new members have been named to the Banff Television Foundation board of directors. They are: Jacques Bensimon, chair of the National Film Board and Government Film Commissioner; Pierre Lampron, president of TVA International Inc., Canada; Sang Gil Lee, manager of the animation department at RainBus Studio, Korea; Carlo Sartori, secretary general of prix italia, Italy; Doug Spears, GM of the content creation division at Sony of Canada Ltd.; and Ernest Wong, group CEO of MediaCorp of Singapore PTE Ltd. The foundation named four other new members of its board in October (CCR, Oct. 24/02). Janet Callaghan and David Cairns have started a media buying consultancy company called Asylumthinkgroup inc. Callaghan was recently senior group VP of integrated marketing at Bell Globemedia, but the company chose not to renew her contract less than a year after hiring her. Cairns is the founder of what is now Carat Toronto, a media buying company that he left about two years ago. Two executives of Quebecor World Inc., a cash generator for Quebecor Inc., will leave the company by May 2003. President and CEO Charles Cavell and CFO Christian Paupe are to depart. They will be replaced by John Paloian and David Boles, who were appointed co-COO of Quebecor World North America in September. Cavell will retire, and Paupe wants to "explore other career opportunities," Quebecor said in a media release.
