Formerly of Delvinia Inc., Bill Sweetman has announced the formation of a new company, Kalixo, an independent professional services firm providing e-business consulting, e-marketing, and innovation support. Debra Wynter, senior tax credit officer for the English market at the Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office (CAVCO), has returned to her position after a French-language training leave. The New Media Innovation Centre has appointed Indira Samarasekera, VP of research at the University of British Columbia, and Tony Knowles, president of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, to its board of directors. CHUM Television International has struck a consultancy arrangement with broadcast veteran David Fox, president and CEO of David Fox and Associates. Fox will be responsible for creating new sales and business development opportunities in the U.S. both for CHUM’s ongoing catalog of shows and presale of programs currently in development for CHUM channels. Before launching his own company in 2001, Fox was co-founder of Unapix Entertainment. Stephen Smart and Suzanne Filiatrault have both been reappointed as members of the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board for three-year terms. Shirley Thomson has been named chair of the same organization. Ron Killeen has been named Communications and Information Technology Ontario’s (CITO) new VP of business development and research. He comes to CITO from Nortel where he was a director leading teams in the development and implementation of new communications technologies. He will be based in CITO’s Kanata ON office. Anita Simand becomes VP of creative development at Portfolio Entertainment. She will be in charge of development activities of the company’s current television projects. Previously, she was in charge of creative at Telescene Film Group and produced for Fox, Discovery Kids, Showcase and Warner Bros.
