Motorola expands public safety communications systems
Motorola Inc. is expanding its portfolio of communications systems for public safety organizations by offering systems with greater interoperability to address the growing concerns of public safety agencies. The Schaumburg IL company is adding the JPS ACU-1000 modular interface/interconnect system to its BMS 1000 product line. The BMS 1000 is a self-contained system with communications infrastructure, power supplies, a tower and its heating and cooling unit. In other Motorola news, the company has signed a three-year US$75-million marketing alliance with MTV. Together, MTV and Motorola will provide an environment that radically accelerates the way people use and view their mobile phones. The two companies want to create a mobile entertainment experience for the consumer to text, talk and rock, according to a news release. One of the initiatives will include preloading innovative MTV content such as ringtones, games, images and other types of content onto Motorola handsets.
