Wi-LAN Inc. has promoted Greg Masuda from director of operations to VP of operations, and Shawn Taylor from chief scientist to VP of technology. Barb Richardson, principal and director of SpringBank TechVentures, has resigned from the board of directors of Infowave Software Inc. George Reznik, Infowave’s CFO, has been appointed to the board. Cygnal Technologies Corp. has appointed David Horsley senior VP and CFO, effective September 1. He will be responsible for all finance and administrative functions within the company. Horsley joins Cygnal from Canadian General Capital Corp., a major shareholder in Cygnal, where he most recently held the position of senior VP and corporate secretary. He currently sits on the board of directors and will resign from the board when he officially takes his new post. Brain Hills, formerly interim CFO, has been appointed VP finance effective immediately. Frederick Wentland, currently director of spectrum plans and policies at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), has been named associate administrator for spectrum management at the NTIA. He replaces William Hatch who retired last year. The Yankee Group has confirmed the following speakers at its Wireless Leadership Summit in New York on June 24 and 25 (the list does not include speakers from the Yankee Group): Sahid Amed, wireless networks North America lead for Accenture; Eric Anderson, VP practice development and marketing, Ericsson; Cindy Christy, COO of the Mobility Solutions Group at Lucent Technologies; Mark Epstein, senior VP development at Qualcomm; Joe Ferra, chief wireless officer, Fidelity Investments; Vernon Irvin, executive VP of communications, media and entertainment at AMS; Solomon Israel, VP systems integration solutions sales, Ericsson; John Marinho, VP of the Mobility Solutions Group at Lucent Technologies; Jonathon Prial, VP business development and sales with IBM’s Pervasive Computing division; Scott Richardson, director of strategy and marketing for Intel’s wireless networking group; Denny Strigl, CEO, Verizon Wireless.
