Wavesat Wireless leading charge for deployment of 802.16a equipment

Montreal-based fabless semiconductor company Wavesat Wireless Inc. believes that its next chip, based on the recently ratified 802.16a standard and slated for release later this year, can help the diffusion of broadband wireless access into the market. Michel Guay, president and CEO of Wavesat, told a crowd at Skypoint Capital’s annual general meeting on May 15 that its next chip will eliminate line-of-sight issues, which have hindered the widespread deployment of broadband wireless to date.
