Producers cement Bell Fund and Telefilm strategies A group of Ontario’s largest independent new media producers have settled on a multi-prong strategy targeting senior government officials and the CRTC to rally against a 40% cut to the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, while using the loss of that assistance to argue for a stronger Telefilm Canada Canada New Media Fund (CNM, July 24/03). The producers, who met last night at SNAP Media’s Liberty Village studio, included representatives from SNAP, the New Media Business Alliance (NMBA), marblemedia, DECODE Entertainment, Trapeze Media, ecentric arts, Byte Size Media, Smiley Guys Studio, Pangaea New Media, Borden Street and others. Also in attendance were representatives of the Ontario Media Development Corporation, SMART Toronto Technology Alliance, FAD Research and the City of Toronto.
