Public safety given welcome assurances of additional spectrum in 700 MHz band

Public safety operators and associated stakeholders can now rest assured that they will have spectrum dedicated for their use in the future, but they shouldn’t expect to get their hands on the airwaves anytime soon. Industry Canada expects to issue a policy paper soon concerning analog TV channels 63 and 68, on which it imposed a moratorium for TV purposes earlier this year, but substantial work lies ahead in developing a coherent policy, says a department official.
