Lisa Lyons has been appointed as VP and general manager of Max Trax and content distribution at Corus Television. She will lead the affiliate relations team and be responsible for all aspects of the company’s business associated with affiliate revenues as well as managing the Max Trax digital music business. She has 16 years experience launching and building successful brands and partnerships within the entertainment and media sectors, including working as VP of distribution and affiliate relations for broadcasting at Alliance Atlantis Communications from 1997 to 2000. Elizabeth Roscoe has left the Canadian Cable Television Association after 12 years in the cable industry to pursue new challenges. She was the association’s senior VP of external affairs and communications. She plans to pursue an executive development program at Queen’s University and a new career in the public affairs/fund development field. Michael Hennessy is filling in while the association searches for a replacement. Elizabeth Duffy-MacLean, formerly group VP of regulatory affairs at Bell Globemedia, recently left the company. No replacement has been named. Grant Campbell recently joined Northern Cablevision Ltd. in Edmonton as marketing manager. The cableco operates cable systems in 26 smaller communities in northern Alberta and one in Saskatchewan. Campbell, previously manager of affiliate relations at Corus Entertainment Inc. based in Edmonton, replaces Jodi Green, who has left Northern. John Galway has been appointed as director of the Ontario/Nunavut regional office and national sector head of television operations at Telefilm Canada. He has been acting in the position since June 2002. Prior to that, he served as the region’s television unit director. He has also worked at the Canadian Television Fund licence fee program, where he started as a business analyst and eventually held the position of manager of project data. Beverly Thomson will be joining CTV as co-host of Canada AM, beginning on November 3. CTV announced that all litigation between CTV and Global concerning her hiring has been resolved (CCR, Aug. 22/03). Lori Rosenberg has joined the Canadian Television Fund as manager of English market analysis on a one-year contract. She replaces Mary Henricksen, who has just left on maternity leave. Rosenberg has previously worked as director of program acquisitions and contracts at Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., after helping launch Showcase and History Television. She has also worked as director of programming and publicity at ONtv (currently CH), and was VP and general manager at Corus’ Scream and now defunct EdgeTV (CCR, June 20/03). Citytv Vancouver personalities Simi Sara and Shane Foxman will co-anchor CityPulse at Six, beginning on Sept. 15. As well, veteran Vancouver broadcaster Rafe Mair, who recently left Corus Entertainment’s CKNW after 19 years, will host a new editorial segment (CCR, June 30/03). Konrad von Finckenstein, formerly commissioner of competition at the Competition Bureau of Canada, has been appointed as a judge of the Federal Court of Canada. He replaces Madame Justice D.C. McGillis who resigned. Toronto-based Blast Radius has hired Mauro Alencar as creative director, and Marcus Ericsson as art director. Alencar, prior to joining Blast, was a creative director with J. Walter Thompson in Brazil. Ericsson was a senior designer at Arachnid in Malaysia before joining the Blast team. Derek Kuhn, director of marketing for Alcatel’s plant in Kanata ON, has been named chair of the BCD Forum, a broadband trade association. Joining him as officers of the group are Joe Mosher of Aliant Inc. and Matthew Marnick of Nortel Networks Corp. In Memory Union of B.C. Performers president John Juliani passed away suddenly. "This brilliant, dedicated man will be mourned and missed; not just by B.C. performers, but by members of the arts community across the country," says a statement by the union.
