Industry Canada abandons Ka-band licensing at the 107.3 orbital slot

Industry Canada has abandoned the licensing of a precious satellite orbital position because there wasn’t enough time to complete the process and give potential licensees enough time to get a satellite in the sky. In a letter dated August 14, Industry Canada informed Pegasus Communications Corp., the only remaining applicant for Ka-band spectrum in the 107.3 degrees West orbital position, that the licensing process had closed and the department would forego rights to international coordination of the spectrum in that particular orbital location.
