Former Hewlett-Packard (HP) VP Jerry Meerkatz has been appointed CEO of Vancouver-based Infowave Software Inc. Meerkatz brings more than 24 years experience to the company having most recently served as VP and GM of enterprise mobility solutions at HP. Meerkatz worked at Compaq for 14 years prior to its acquisition by HP in 2002. Prior to his tenure at Compaq and HP, he held several senior-level management and engineering positions at ITT Courier/Servcom. CSI Wireless Inc. has announced a management reorganization in response to growth the company has achieved over the last few years. Colin Maclellan has been appointed to the newly created position of COO. Michael Cummiskey has joined the firm as VP business development, fixed wireless and radio products. Theresa Lea, VP and GM of the GPS business, will now report to Maclellan. The board of directors of BCE Inc. has announced that Ronald Brenneman, CEO of Petro-Canada, has joined the board as a director. He will serve as a director of Bell Canada and Telesat Canada. Mario Belanger has been appointed president of Avaya Inc.’s Canadian operations. Belanger will be responsible for Avaya Canada’s sales and operations, providing strategic direction to expand the company’s market share in Canada. Belanger has more than 20 years experience having most recently served as president and VP of international sales of Paradyne Worldwide Corp. Before joining Paradyne, he held management positions at Bell Canada and Xerox Canada. TeraGo Networks has made two senior-level management changes. Gerry O’Reilly has been appointed CFO and Robert Warburton has been named VP sales and marketing. Barry Felstead has received the IEEE Milcom Technical Achievement Award for his technical contributions in the field of military communications. Felstead is a special projects leader in the military satellite communications research group at the Communications Research Centre. He was presented the award at the Milcom 2003 conference in Boston last month. Nokia Canada has appointed Nathalie Le Prohon as GM of Nokia Products Ltd. She replaces Allan Gilchrist after he spent 25 years at the mobile product company. Le Prohon brings nearly 20 years experience in the technology industry having previously served at IBM Canada Ltd. There, Le Prohon was VP strategic outsourcing sales in IBM Global Services. She will be responsible for all aspects of Nokia Canada’s mobile products, including strategy development, marketing, sales, channel execution, operations, product testing and customer support. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has begun preparations for the 2007 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-07). The FCC has appointed Nancy Victory as chair and Peter Hadinger as vice-chair of the FCC WRC-07 advisory committee. Victory served as assistant secretary of commerce for Communications and Information, and administrator for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Hadinger is director of communications initiatives for Northrop Grumman’s space technology sector. Alex Roytblat, assistant chief of the strategic analysis and negotiations division of the FCC’s international bureau, will direct the commission’s WRC-07 preparatory activities. Antenova has appointed Su Zhang as CTO. She has more than 20 years in the antenna design industry having served as head of Nokia’s new antenna concept team. Zhang also worked at CSA Antenna Systems Ltd. as a principal engineer and team leader. She also served as director of R&D for CSA’s North American operations.
