William Kerr has been appointed CFO at Nortel Networks Corp. on an interim basis in the wake of Douglas Beatty being put on paid leave of absence pending completion of an independent review of the company’s financial statements. Also on leave is Michael Gollogly, controller, who has been replaced on a temporary basis by MaryAnne Pahapill. David Mahony has been named VP sales at Datex. He will be responsible for developing and exploiting opportunities for ISPs and extending Datex’s reach for CLECs across North America. He joins the company from Hostopia Corp. Previously, he was VP of sales for PSINet. Stephen Bayliffe has been named president of TELUS Sourcing Solutions (TSS). He will lead the team at TSS in delivering end-to-end HR solutions to healthcare and other organizations across Canada. He joins TELUS from London, England, where he was most recently Europe, Middle East and Africa HR Solutions leader at IBM UK Ltd. John MacDonald has resigned as a member of the board of directors of Leitch Technology Corp. The company said his "full time commitment as president of Allstream does not enable John to continue to serve on our board any longer." Tim Thorsteinson, current CEO of Leitch, replaces MacDonald on the board. David Outhwaite has been named president and CEO of VoiceIQ Inc. He has more than 30 years of experience in the IT and telecom marketplace. Most recently, Outhwaite was CEO of dot com Entertainment Group and prior to that was VP and COO of CryptoLogic Inc. Dean MacDonald, executive VP and COO of Rogers Cable Inc., is leaving the cableco at the end of the month. Ron Hiebert was re-elected president of the Telecommunications Workers Union. He will serve a three-year term. Marjorie Shewchuk was re-elected by acclamation as Edmonton bargaining agent and Mick Shiels was re-elected by acclamation as bargaining agent for Calgary. Bargaining agents Peter Massy, Betty Carrasco and Fran Guillet, incumbents for Burnaby BC, were also re-elected. Kris Parthiban has joined Edgetech Services as VP of operations. He will oversee the company’s operations and strategic planning activities, and will assist senior management in formulating corporate strategy. At the Federal Communications Commission, William Dever has been promoted to deputy chief of the Competition Policy division. He joined the division in March 1998, and has served as assistant division chief since January 2001. As well, Jeremy Miller has been promoted to assistant chief of the division. He has been an attorney advisor in the division since March 2001.
