The postponement of the nextMedia festival is good news, even if its immediate impact is negative. To an industry that has seen a year in which little has happened to counter the depressing events of 2003, it must be dispiriting to see that the festival won’t be held this year. The event would have been a great opportunity to launch officially a new national coalition of new media players when everybody was paying attention. Now, some other venue will have to be found. But, by the time the show goes on again – likely early next summer – the group may well be able to stand up and tout its successes.
