Edward Rogers has had his employment contract as president and CEO of Rogers Communications Inc. extended to June 2008 from December 31, 2006. The extension was granted at a December 15 meeting of the company’s board of directors. Barry Baptie, Reginald Bird and Janice MacKinnon have been named to the board of directors of VCom Inc., the company that has purchased Image Wireless. Baptie has held senior positions at Edmonton Telephones as well as TELUS. He will chair VCom’s audit committee. Bird is chair of the board of Saskatchewan Telecommunications Ltd. He will chair the company’s corporate governance committee and will be a member of the audit committee. MacKinnon is a former Cabinet minister with the Saskatchewan government, and is currently a professor of public policy at the University of Saskatchewan. She will be a member of the audit committee and the corporate governance committee. Alison Green has been named as VP of programming and content at Bell ExpressVu. She will be based in the direct-to-home satellite TV distributor’s Toronto headquarters. She will be responsible for the acquisition of the distributor’s TV channels and pay-per-view (PPV) services. Previously, she was VP of business development at Gist Communications, and director of business development and business affairs. Randall Hofley has been appointed as special counsel to the Commissioner of Competition Sheridan Scott. Hofley will take a leave of absence from the law firm Stikeman Elliott LLP during his appointment. Scot MacDonald, who was director of investment with Technology PEI Inc., has left the provincial government agency to take the position of VP of business development at Cellar Door Productions. Cellar Door is a TV production company based in Charlottetown PEI. Changes have been made to the CTV News reporting team, with Tom Clark being appointed as Washington bureau chief. As well, Alan Fryer will assume reporting duties for W-Five for the 2005 season, and Sarah Galashan has been appointed as Alberta bureau chief for CTV News. The changes are effective January 2005. CTV news anchors Lloyd Robertson and Sandie Rinaldo will take on the duties of hosting W-Five in addition to their roles hosting the newscast. Previously, Clark was host and senior correspondent of W-Five. He will continue his role as a back-up anchor for the national news. Fryer is CTV’s current Washington bureau chief. Galashan’s new duties are a promotion from her previous job as a CTV News reporter in Vancouver. Dom Caruso has stepped down as president of Cossette Toronto. He has been in the position for close to three years. François Duffar, president of Cossette Communication Group, assumes the role of acting president in Toronto. Caruso will remain as an advisor to Duffar and the Toronto management team. Thereafter, he will be taking a sabbatical. Patricia Warsaba has been appointed as a member of the National Film Board. She is presently a partner with Robertson Stromberg Pedersen LLP. Previously, she has worked as director and chair of the governance committee of the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association and has provided legal advice to numerous film, video and multimedia production companies. Eleni Tsokas is the new publicist at Teletoon.
