Spotwave Wireless has appointed Paul Tinney as VP of worldwide sales and marketing, responsible for all sales and marketing activities. Tinney, who has a proven track record in sales, marketing and management in the global wireless industry, joins from SS8 Networks where he held the position of VP and GM of the company’s security solutions group. It was in this role that he helped build the company to become a leader in network surveillance and monitoring for the carrier community. During his 20 years in the industry, Tinney has held a number of senior level positions at companies such as Space Imaging and Adaptive Broadband Corp. Cyrus Reporter has registered as a lobbyist for Canadian Satellite Radio Inc. with the goal of helping to shape policy surrounding satellite radio services. Reporter, a lawyer with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, will lobby officials at Canadian Heritage, Industry Canada and the Privy Council. Fidus Systems has named Chris Forester account executive for the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario. Forester has 15 years experience in sales having worked in a number of capacities around the world. He has worked in global sales for Nortel Networks and Lattice Semiconductor. Most recently, he sold electronic design services throughout North American for an unidentified firm. At its annual general meeting, WebTech Wireless announced changes in its executive offices and to its board of directors. Juliet Jones has been appointed CFO bringing 14 years experience working in a public company environment. She has experience in raising public and private equity, merger and acquisition transactions and strategic planning. The Burnaby B.C.-based company also elected Dick Pinder to the board. He is president of Kingsmere Corporate Finance Ltd., located in Calgary. Fatport Corp. has added Ben Yan to its board of directors. Currently managing partner at Chasm Management Group, he is known for co-founding GT Group Telecom and building it into a $1.2 billion operation. Yan has extensive experience mentoring sales and marketing teams focused on technology and software. He has worked in a number of roles in the technology industry, most notably in the government business unit of Sun Microsystems and at Hewlett-Packard in a number of different capacities. David Reid has been hired as VP of sales and marketing for a subsidiary of Battery & Wireless Solutions Inc. In his most recent role, he played an important part in growing an unidentified supplier to the Canadian communications to record $65 million in sales. Battery & Wireless provides equipment to the wireless communications sector. Slipstream Data Inc. has appointed wireless industry veteran Paul Obert to the position of VP of sales. In this role, he will be responsible for channel development and implementing aggressive growth strategies. Obert has more than 20 years experience in global sales, marketing, customer service and channel development with a variety of companies ranging from startup to multinational. Prior to joining Slipstream, Obert was VP of sales and customer service at Redline Communications. Lee Garrison has been named VP of marketing at Xenos Group Inc. Garrison brings a wealth of technical marketing, product management and business development to the company. Prior to joining the company, he was VP marketing at Sitraka, a provider of application performance management software which was acquired by Quest Software.
