Andrea Wood, executive VP of business and legal affairs, has been appointed as the head of the integrated operational and corporate legal departments at Alliance Atlantis Communications, effective immediately. Based in Toronto, she will oversee all operational and corporate legal activities for the company. She joined Alliance Atlantis in 1992. The following directors have been re-elected to the board of directors at Cossette Communication Group Inc.: Claude Lessard, chair and CEO; François Duffar, VP of the board and president; Robert Beauregard, president of Beauregard Group; John Bernbach, president and COO of Not Traditional Media; Nicole Côté, president of Psycho-Logic Inc.; Serge Gouin, president and CEO of Quebecor Media Inc.; David McKerroll, CEO of CIT Capital Finance; and Peter Post, CEO of Cossette Post. Barbara Williams has been appointed as senior VP of programming and production for CanWest MediaWorks television assets in a realignment of the senior management team. Williams will have overall responsibility for all television entertainment programming, including acquisitions and production for both conventional and specialty television. She was most recently VP and general manager of Toronto One, and before that she was senior VP of lifestyle programming at Alliance Atlantis. Other changes include Chris McGinley, currently general manager of Global Alberta, being appointed as VP of Western Stations, and Patrick O’Hara, currently general manager of Eastern Broadcasting Operations, being named as VP of Eastern stations. As well, Bill Hunt, currently VP and general manager of Global Television Specialty Inc., will assume the new role of VP and general manager of Global Ontario, effective April 1. Adam Ivers, VP of programming, becomes responsible for program acquisitions for both conventional and specialty TV. Steve Wyatt, current editor-in-chief of Global News, has been appointed as senior VP of news and information with oversight of all TV news assets. Charlotte Bell continues in her current role as VP of regulatory affairs for both television and radio. Cyrus Reporter, a consultant with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, has registered as a lobbyist for Canadian Satellite Radio Inc. He will communicate with Canadian Heritage, Industry Canada, and the Privy Council Office on policies regarding satellite radio. Peter Moss, executive VP of programming, will be helping Corus Television in the role of creative consultant. Joanna Webb assumes the role of VP of programming at Corus’ W Network, and Phil Piazza, joins as VP of programming for children’s television. In his new position, Moss will guide Corus’ original productions and advise the senior programming team on scheduling and buying strategies. The new role will enable him to spend more time focusing on directing and producing. Webb was most recently VP of programming for children’s television and acting director of programming at the W Network. Piazza joins Corus from CTV Specialty TV, where he worked in progressively senior roles at TSN. Jean-François Richard has been appointed to the newly created position of VP of advertising convergence at Quebecor Media. His mandate is to ensure customers know the full benefits of the multitude of advertising opportunities offered by the Quebecor Media family of companies. Prior to joining Quebecor, Richard was VP of marketing with a clothing retailer, and he worked for many years for a telecommunications firm. Roger Keay was awarded the Canadian Satellite Users Association Outstanding Service Award at the organization’s conference earlier this month. He recently retired from Rogers Communications and is being recognized for the contributions he made in broadcasting technology. Alain Miquelon has been named as COO of Megiagrif Interactive Technologies Inc. He is currently CFO and VP of strategic development at the company that provides e-business solutions.
