Colligo Networks introduces Workgroup version 4Vancouver-based Colligo Networks Inc. introduced Workgroup Edition 4.0 at the Microsoft Windows Anywhere conference in San Francisco. New features available with the fourth version include: secure Microsoft Windows-style folder and printer sharing; one-button touch Wi-Fi networking; archiving; enhanced security; and improved user interface. With more than 250,000 licences of Colligo’s products shipped worldwide and approximately 50,000 Workgroup Edition users in the accounting industry, the company’s software is fast becoming the instant networking solution of choice. 724 Solutions reports fourth quarter and year-end results724 Solutions Inc. has reported fourth quarter and year-end financial results with Q4 revenue topping the US$5.5-million mark, up from US$3.5 million in the previous quarter and US$3.2 million in the previous year’s fourth quarter. Revenue from product sales in Q4 was US$3.1 million and sales of services were US$2.4 million. Net loss for the quarter was US$308,000 done significantly from previous quarter of US$1.5 million and US$11.3 million in the fourth quarter of the previous year. Year-end revenue was US$15.1 million, compared to US$12.9 million in the previous year. Net loss for the year was US$8 million compared to US$28.3 million in the previous year. Zi Corp. expands reach of predictive text technologyZi Corp. has announced that more than one billion people in the fast growing markets of Eastern Europe, the Middle East and India will soon be able to send and receive text messages in their native language. In opening up these markets to its technology, the company adds seven new languages and now counts 48 different ones that are compatible with its technology. The Calgary-based company showcased support for the seven new languages at the 3GSM Congress in Cannes, France last week. In other Zi news, the company has announced that its eZiText predictive text system is now shipping on the F808 handset for the Chinese market. Rogers Wireless deploys Redknee messaging gatewayRogers Wireless Inc. has deployed the Synaxis Enhanced Messaging Gateway (EMG) and Datamart system, developed by Redknee Inc. Deployment of the EMG will allow Rogers to generate new revenue from real-time rating and charging for SMS, data and content capabilities. Rogers will also realize cost savings by being able to offload traffic from their existing text messaging server using a new innovation contained in the gateway. The EMG system also provides an evolution path for Rogers to manage multimedia messages all on the same platform. SAMSys provides assurances on product availabilityToronto-based SAMSys Technologies Inc. has assured its customers that its RFID readers will remain compliant with new standards, and customers will be able to upgrade to news RFID readers as well. As the RFID reader market evolves to newer standards, customers were becoming increasingly concerned about the continued interoperability of various tags and readers as well as protecting the investment in RFID reader infrastructure. The company announced its Tru Blue, Gen 2 RFID assurance program to address these particular issues. Sierra Wireless and Nortel to show off high-speed wirelessNortel Networks Corp. and Sierra Wireless Inc. have teamed up to provide live demonstrations of high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) at the 3GSM Congress in Cannes, France. The two companies demonstrated streaming video and audio to mobile users using Sierra Wireless’ AirCard 850 and commercial 3G network infrastructure from Nortel. HSDPA represents the latest generation of UMTS, or 3G, wireless standard to be used in Europe, Japan and North America and will boost network capacity to carry up to three times as much data traffic and up to twice as many wireless users per cell site compared to today’s 3G networks. MDSI secures follow on deal with Xcel EnergyMDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. has recently received a follow on order from Xcel Energy, the fourth-largest electric and natural gas company in the United States. Xcel has signed a licence agreement to approximately 1,000 uses to its current implementation of MDSI’s Advantex r7 mobile workforce management system. Under terms of the agreement, additional field personnel that support emergency response and customer service across 10 states, will get access to Advantex r7. Redknee launches wireless PBX system with auto-attendantToronto-based Redknee Inc. has introduced its mobile office manager (MoM), a wireless PBX system that enables operators to offer their customers a virtual receptionist to address the ever increasing corporate mobile market needs. MoM targets a wide range of business customers, including those replacing legacy PBX system to those seeking a cost-effective way to improve performance and efficiency of both internal and external communications. "Redknee’s MoM solution is like having a virtual receptionist who can screen, route, park or recall calls automatically. It supports intelligent routing for incoming voice calls based in the pre-set priorities defined by the subscriber, such as call state (ringing or busy) or elapsed time (amount of time phone has been ringing)," reads a news release. 724 Solutions inks major agreement with LM Ericsson724 Solutions Inc. has signed an agreement with LM Ericsson under which the company’s Xtreme Alerts Platform will become part of Ericsson’s managed service offering of hosted content and applications for mobile operators. The Alerts Platform allows mobile operators and content providers to send personalized, permission-based SMS or MMSA alerts to subscribers. In other 724 Solutions news, the company has inked an agreement with Swisscom Mobile, which is a member of the Vodafone Club of Operators. Swisscom will deploy 724 Solutions’ X-treme Service Activity Manager (XSAM). XSAM allows mobile operators and third parties to rapidly create, manage and deliver a rich portfolio of data services. The application also routes traffic between content providers, operators and subscribers. Phantom Fiber inks deal with GoldenPalace.comToronto-based Phantom Fiber Corp. has secured a five-year licence contract with the Internet’s number one casino, GoldenPalace.com. Under terms of the agreement, GoldenPalace.com will use Phantom Fiber’s secure wireless framework to offer wireless wagering to its customers worldwide. "We feel that wireless gaming is imperative in delivering a complete solution for our customers and will further serve to increase our market leadership in the industry," GoldenPalace.com CEO Richard Rowe said in a news release. Phantom Fiber president and CEO Jeff Halloran added that he is confident wireless gaming will become a serious option as the marketing of this service kicks into high gear.
