Rogers reorganizes digital TV channel lineup in Ontario
Rogers Cable announced March 15 it was reorganizing its digital TV lineup by theme in Ontario. Channels beginning at channel 180 will consist of news services, those beginning at 220 will consist of kid’s channels, those starting at channel 241 will be learning channels, those at channel 255 are lifestyle channels, those at 270 entertainment channels, and those at 300 movie channels. The TV services below 100 will stay in their current position. For example, CBC Newsworld will remain on the basic cable TV lineup and be duplicated on channel 183 as part of the news category. The themed-channel TV lineup will roll out as follows: March 29 (Scarborough, Pickering, Richmond Hill, Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Owen Sound, Midland, Caledon, Bolton and Orangeville), March 31 (Ottawa and surrounding communities, southwestern Ontario, including Kitchener, Guelph, Woodstock, London, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Tillsonburg and Stratford) and April 5 (greater Toronto area, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, York, Newmarket, Durham, Ajax and Oshawa). Rogers also announced that it was launching eight new digital TV theme packages: news, lifestyle sports, more movies, learning, music, family fun and classic TV.
