Richard Zhang, president of CEC Mobile, has been appointed to Contec Innovations’ advisory committee. He will be based in Beijing, China. The announcement comes as Contec inks a memorandum of understanding with the China unit of a major telecommunication infrastructure company to evaluate the potential to market Contec’s Hornet product. CEC Mobile is a unit of CEC Group, a company that designs, assembles and markets mobile handsets to the Chinese market. Gordon Becker, president of WebTech Wireless International Barbados, has retired. He will remain on the board of directors. Becker has been with the subsidiary of WebTech Wireless for the past five years. Thomas Nuorima has resigned from Mitec Telecom Inc.’s board of directors, effective immediately. He has been a director with the company for several years following Mitec’s acquisition of BEVE. Spectrum Signal Processing has appointed David Scott to its board of directors, and will also serve on the company’s compensation and nomination committee. Scott retired as CEO of General Dynamics in 2002. Prior to joining General Dynamics, he held a number of senior executive positions with Computing Devices International, Computing Devices Canada and Canadian Marconi Company. Scott’s appointment follows the retirement of Glen Myers. Nokia Corp. has unveiled its management succession plan with the appointment of Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo as president and COO effective Oct. 1, 2005 and president and CEO effective June 1, 2006. Jorma Ollila, chair and CEO, will continue in his current capacity until June 1, 2006 when it is proposed he will serve as non-executive chair. It was also announced that Pekka Ala-Pietila will resign to pursue personal interests. He will take on the role of executive advisor, effective October 1, and will leave the company on Feb. 1, 2006. Jay Rosenblatt resigned from the mobile virtual network operator arm of Primus Telecommunications, Primus Wireless. He had been an executive with the company since 1994. Despite his departure, Primus Wireless is moving ahead with its strategy. There are no plans to replace Rosenblatt and his responsibilities will be split between Steve Carter, senior director of wireless services for Primus, and Don Cunningham, head of sales and distribution. Neal Finnegan has been appointed to the board of directors of SolutionInc Ltd., an IP management software company. Finnegan is the former CEO of USTrust Co. and former chair of Citizens Bank of Massachusetts. David Dobbin, COO of Telecom Ottawa, has left the company to take over as president of Toronto Hydro Telecom. He has been replaced on an interim basis by Jacques Taillefer, VP of sales for Telecom Ottawa. Dobbin will be responsible for leading the market growth and development at Toronto Hydro Telecom with oversight of business strategy, marketing, sales, network operations, service creation and customer care. Taillefer will focus on strategy, sales and marketing, network operations and product services. Tundra Semiconductor has announced that Ray Burgess has joined the company as VP of strategy and marketing. He will be responsible for driving Tundra’s growth strategy and positioning the company for continued success. Burgess has about 25 years experience in the semiconductor industry and most recently served as senior VP of strategy, marketing and communications with Freescale Semiconductor. He has been working closely with Tundra in a consulting capacity since the beginning of the year. James Suttie has been appointed CEO of Infowave Software Inc. He brings more than 25 years of senior executive experience in the IT industry. Suttie most recently served as executive VP corporate security treasury services of Thomson Financial Inc.
