BCE Inc. is making changes to its executive ranks following the resignation of Pierre Blouin, group president of consumer markets. He is leaving BCE to pursue other career opportunities. Robert Odendaal has been appointed president of Bell Mobility and Bell Distribution Inc. Robert Crull has been named president of residential services. Alek Krstajic has been appointed to the Office of the CEO "to assume a new senior executive assignment" to be announced in the near future. Francis Fox has been appointed to the Senate of Canada. A former member of Parliament from 1972 to 1984, he began his career as a special assistant to the Prime Minister’s office in the 1960s. He later worked with Rogers Communications, having held a number of senior management positions. Since 2004, he has practiced law at Fasken Martineau Du Moulin. Keith McIntosh has been named director of regulatory affairs at the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association. Previously, he held the position of manager of regulatory affairs at the association. Al Rivero has joined Infowave Software as senior director of strategic business development with the goal of driving increased for the company. Rivero was formerly with Chevron where he managed that company’s control systems and technology strategy for pipeline automation. Chevron is an Infowave customer. Chris Haugen has been appointed director of Edmonton operations with TRLabs, responsible for day-to-day operations, in addition to conducting and expanding the company’s technology and applications research program in that city. As well, Haugen is charged with enhancing productive industry, government and university research relationships. "In addition to maintaining a tradition of research excellence in network systems and photonics, will play a leadership role in leveraging the enabling technology research strength of our Edmonton operations to capitalize on emerging industry and market interests in vertical markets such as health, and home technologies," TRLabs president and CEO Roger Pederson said in a news release. David Andrews replaces William Staudt as chair of Sirit Inc.’s board of directors, effectively immediately. Andrews has more than 27 years of management and executive experience in the technology sector with firms such as Compaq, Tandem and Unisys, and has also worked north of the border. He is currently chair of Coss Systems Inc., a provider of software to the manufacturing industry. Nokia continues to reshuffle its management following the announcement that CEO Jorma Ollila is stepping down later this year. His position is being filled by Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, former head of the mobile phone unit. Kai Oistamo has been tapped to head the handset business.
