Allstream secures three-year deal with VIA Rail, more national deals on the way

 A recently struck three-year telecommunications services contract between VIA Rail Canada Inc. and Allstream Inc., while only a connectivity deal initially, leaves the opportunity to migrate services and applications to an IP environment, explains Howard Bowles, Allstream’s VP of solutions. The agreement, announced on September 7, calls for the provision of local and long-distance calling, as well as data services and Internet connectivity.
