Jean-Claude Bellefeuille, of Moncton NB, has been appointed to the board of directors of TV5 Quebec Canada. He is owner and president of Bellefeuille Production, and founding member of l’Alliance des producteurs francophone du Canada. From 1994 to 2001, he produced 160 programs for the series Temps d’Affaires, which aired on Radio-Canada Atlantique, TV5 and RDI. Lynne Godin has left her position of product marketing manager at CanWest Media Works to join SunTV as maketing manager. Mark Redmond has been named as president and CEO of Sirius Canada. A former Thomson executive, he has held senior positions in operations, marketing and sales for Thomson’s consumer electronic division, including RCA, GE and Thomson brands. His last position at Thomson as VP of worldwide audio and video products. Redmond replaces Kevin Shea at Sirius. Shea will remain as a senior advisor to the board of Sirius Canada. Lisa Hillary is leaving The Score, where she was Ottawa bureau reporter, to join CHUM’s A-Channel Ottawa as host of the 11 p.m. news. She began her broadcasting career as a general assignment reporter at CHUM’s Pembroke station, before moving on to cover sports. As well, Peter Angione has been named as news director at A-Channel Ottawa. He has worked in many capacities in newsrooms across the country. In May 2004, he became senior news producer for CHUM TV in Ottawa. Robin Neinstein has been put in charge of drama production at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. He joined the public broadcaster from Media Headquarters. Former Canadian Broadcasting Corp. president and CEO Perry Beatty has been appointed to the Advisory Council on National Security. The council will provide advice on national security issues to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Cabinet Committee on Security, Public Health and Emergencies. A regular commentator on Middle East politics for CBC/Radio-Canada and other Canadian networks, Rachad Antonius was also named to the council. The University of Quebec professor is an expert on racism and human rights. Maurice Paleau has joined the National Film Board as its new head of international relations. Based in Paris, he will oversee presales of NFB content to international buyers. Previously, he was VP of creative development for Discovery Channel. Liberal candidate in the Ottawa Center riding during the 2004 election, Richard Mahoney has registered as a lobbyist for Canadian Satellite Radio Ltd. A good friend of Prime Minister Paul Martin, he is expected to run in the next federal election. He will lobby Industry Canada, Canadian Heritage and the Privy Council Office on “all issues surrounding satellite radio broadcasting.” Dan Fill has left Decode Entertainment where he was VP of interactive to take a job with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He will become head of development at ABC’s new media and digital services unit, starting in December. He has been with Decode since 1999. David Baylor has been named as secretary general of the North American Broadcasters Association. He has over 30 years experience as a broadcast executive. He has worked for DirecTV as executive VP of technology and operations, and was VP of broadcast operations at NBC from 1986 to 1992. From 1973 to 1992, he worked at PBS, where he pioneered Line 21 closed captioning for hearing impaired viewers and implemented U.S. network television’s first satellite distribution system. Liz Janik has been hired as program manager for Standard Radio Inc.’s all-Canadian commercial free music station that will launch on Sirius Canada’s subscription radio service. She will oversee music programming and play a key role in the management and operation of the station. She is well known for working with radio stations in the design and development of radio formats, including hip hop, R&B, top 40, modern rock and Motown. Kim Gertler has been contracted for a second year in the role of executive producer of newMEDIA, the three-day international conference for the new media community. The event, produced and owned by Achilles Media, will run from June 9-11, 2006, prior to the Banff World Television Festival.
