Nortel Networks Corp. has made a couple of key management changes in the last two weeks. Dietmar Wendt has been named president of Nortel’s global services division effective May 1. Reporting directly to president and CEO Mike Zafirovski, Wendt will be responsible for the company’s global services business, including financial performance, portfolio development and go-to-market strategies. He comes to Nortel from IBM Corp. where he is currently VP of IT services transformation of the Asia Pacific region. Wendt will be based in Toronto. Lauren Flaherty, another former IBM executive, will join the company on May 1 as chief marketing officer. Flaherty spent 26 years at IBM where she led worldwide advertising and helped create the campaign "Solutions for a Small Planet." Syscan International Inc. has announced that Thomas Bruno has been elected as a new member on the board of directors. Over the past several years, Bruno has provided support to the company in helping development of its RFID technology. More recently, though, he played a key role in facilitating the introduction of the company’s latest RFID applications for the military and civilian markets. Eduardo Janeiro has been appointed director of sales and marketing for TelePlus Wireless Corp., operator of the Liberty Wireless brand. He replaces Henry Flesch. Janeiro was formerly a director of sales with Metro PCS Inc., a US wireless provider. John Ng has been appointed CFO of Telehop Communications Inc., replacing Glenn Reinecke who has been acting in the position on an interim basis. Ng has previously held accounting and finance positions with Bell Globemedia Inc., The Globe and Mail, Dell Computer Canada and Moore Corp. David Roberts, senior VP of North American channels for McAfee Inc., has been recognized as one of the region’s Top 100 Channel Executives by VARBusiness. Michael Class has joined fabless semiconductor company Sequans Communications as VP of worldwide sales, responsible for building the company’s global sales efforts, including technical services and sales engineering support. He has more than 20 years experience in the semiconductor industry, most recently with Exar where he led the sales team. Prior to that, Class was a sales executive with IC Works and was responsible for the Western United States and Canada.
