Bill Sweetman, the Toronto-based founder of the Multimediator online directory, has been tapped to lead Internet strategy and planning at the interactive arm of ad agency MacLaren McCann. Sweetman will serve as VP, Internet Strategy at MacLaren McCann Direct & Interactive, a role the company says he’s well-suited for considering his 15 years’ worth of online marketing experience and multimedia savvy. Starting his career at City TV’s Speaker’s Corner in 1990 – one of the earliest participatory media experiences in mainstream broadcasting – Sweetman also founded Kalixo, an e-business consulting and marketing firm, and co-founded the upcoming Canadian New Media Awards. He is also a past recipient of the Internet World Impact Award for Communications, and belongs to an array of industry organizations including the Association for Internet Marketing and Sales (AIMS) and the Canadian Marketing Association.
